Slaves were important in this region because there was a lot of land and the people that owned that land were too lazy and snobby to work themselves and so they bought cheap slaves to do the work for them. The settlers preferred African Slaves because they were immune to most of the diseases that were killing off everyone else, also the Africans were used to working on their own farms, so they wouldn't die from exhaustion as easily so they would last longer. Africans were also easy to take away from their families and were cheaper to feed and buy.
People in this region wanted freedom, political, and religious. They got plenty of religious freedom, but the political freedom was a little bit harder to get because their kings were fighting over who got which land, so the political freedom took a little while, but it was well worth it in the end. Many people still struggle with freedom and want to fight on their own, but we had a lot of help doing it ourselves. We fought as one and died as one.
It was warmer in the southern colonies than anywhere else due to the fact it's the closest region to the equator and the soil conditions were good for the crops but better for the crops that they traded with the indians for. Tobacco, Vanilla, Indago and Corn were better formulated for the soil and weather conditions in the Americas than their crops were.
The people that came here were French Catholics that came to America to have religious freedom and to practice their religion. In France they were not allowed to practice their religion freely.
One part of culture is differences in class. Class differences were a problem, but not particularly in this region. The reason for that is this region was the last one to be settled, so most of the class problems were solved by the time that people migrated there.
